THE STEPS AND PROCEDURES OF SURGICAL PROCESSES

Home/Surgical procedures/Post-surgery period

Postoperative care
The postoperative procedure consists of applying adhesive strips pinning the ear edge to the head, without head dressings.

The first night after surgery, the patient may feel a slight pain that can be relieved with analgesics taken orally and prescribed together with the antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. The day after, especially those with long hair may cover the dressings and the patient can return to work.

After five-six days, the adhesives and dressings are removed whereas the stitches are self-absorbent. The ear may appear a bit swollen and the day after medication, the patient can wash his/her hair with the prescribed antiseptic shampoo. It would be advisable to wait for 20 days after the operation before resuming sports activities. In otoplasty, the incisions are absolutely invisible since they are hidden behind the auricular pavilion.

Contact with Dr. Rubens Mattioli does not end in the operating room with the otoplasty intervention. The patient can count on a direct line to the facility and the doctor himself, who can be addressed in case of need, to clarify all doubts and be accompanied step by step during the post-surgical healing period.
